01. Transformation for Leading Edge Performance
IFFCO’s ecommerce application is a complex deployment requiring integrations with multiple third-party vendors. When users login and search for products, huge volumes of data are processed and filtered to offer a fast and smooth shopping experience. The application enables users to browse through the product catalogue, view, and purchase products online, track their order and order history. Agents can also access the application to purchase products.
Such a highly complex search engine requires a fast, reliable catalogue search, and Umbrella identified Adobe Magento eCommerce platform along with Amazon OpenSearch as the ideal solution to handle the massive data volume. The data requires continuous monitoring to ensure smooth performance and high availability. IFFCO is mandated to adhere to stringent security compliance standards as well. During unusual peak surge in application traffic, they required scalability and security.
Umbrella designed the solution considering performance, high availability, and cost. This solution was designed using Magento’s built-in module and Amazon OpenSearch, Umbrella helped IFFCO create a broad-based data catalogue which addresses:
- Amazon OpenSearch service is integrated with Magento eCommerce platform and is used to manage catalogue search.
- Magento maintains “Catalogue Search” index in OpenSearch and syncs changes with the product database. Full indexing is done using scheduled jobs while partial indexing is done whenever a new product gets added or an existing product is updated.
- Indexing in OpenSearch is defined based on product attributes fixed in Magento.
- Amazon OpenSearch analysers are configured for multiple Indian regional languages.
- Product searches are instantly processed enabling listings to be displayed within seconds
- Thousands of products in 100+ categories can be accessed seamlessly with robust indexing
